Help with DPNs

I am knitting a glove and I am working with DPNs (first time) and I just realized I am knitting my project inside out.

I looked on some other websites and it says to just flip the project right side out. And I did this… but it seems like it’s messing up my whole project. Instead of the new yarn trailing off of my right needle, it is not on my left needle and I think it’s going to mess up my pattern… I’m making cables (also first time).

Can somebody help me?

Did I twist my yarn funny at the beginning?

Oh, I have just gone through this!

If you were knitting inside out, then you were knitting on the 2 needles farthest from you. Simply turning it inside out won’t totally fix the problem (unless you knit the whole thing, then turn right side out only at the end, but I don’t think that will work w/cables - maybe?). However, if you are part way through knitting, and want to now knit so that the outside faces out, you need to change how you’re holding the project, so that you are knitting on the needles closest to you. So when you pick up your work, the spare needles need to be out, closer to your pinkies then your thumbs. I had to really concentrate at first, because every time I put it down and picked it up, it felt somehow more comfy inside out/closer to my thumbs. Just 2 gloves later, and I’m all good, always knitting with the needles closest to me.

Also, it will solve your yarn issue, just grab the needle with the yarn in your right hand. The next with your left…and voila, the spare is away from you, toward your pinkies, and you’re ready to knit outside out!
