Hello Everybody
This is the first time I have used your forum. I am currently knitting a Debbie Bliss Herringbone and Cable open jacket from the Weekender pattern book and I am stuck on the sleeves. The sleeves are herringbone only and I can not work out how to increase from 43 stitches to 81 stitches every 6 rows to include the pattern. I have got to the stage where the more I look at it the more complicated is seems and I am on the verge of giving up and unravelling everything that I have done. Please HELP!!!

I assume that you’re increasing one stitch at each edge every 6 rows, is that right?
Sometimes it helps to graph the pattern, at least at the edges of the sleeve so that you can see how to increase and still keep in pattern.
The other possiblity is just to name the stitches backwards from the last pattern repeat to figure out what the increased stitch should be. Usually it’s only a problem at the beginning of the row because at the end of the row you can just continue on in pattern, incorporating the extra stitch.
I sometimes increase in stockinette regardless of the pattern and on the next row or even the next RS row, incorporate the increase into the pattern.
it a very good looking jacket in a lovely pattern stitch.
Thanks for your reply. I will give it another go!
