Help with Clara Cables Vest

Good Day,
I am having some difficulty trying to understand how to separate my work into front and back.
I am doing Clara Cables Vest. Working in the round.
I have completed the body and the pattern says to end on an even numbered round. Break yarn.
Then find center of Moss stitch sections which are the sides and place markers 5 stitches in either side of the center stitch.
Then attach yarn at the first set of armholes.
Next rnd: Bind off 11 sts work across back to next set of markers, bind off 11 stitches work across front sts to end. Place back sts on holder

My questions are: when I break the yarn initially do I need to do anything with the end?

  • when it says to attach yarn at “ first set of armhole markers “ what am I doing with all the stitches in between where my needles are currently and where the armhole markers are??? Since I have just finished a round the first set of armhole markers are all the way across the front of the vest away from where I am working???
    I would appreciate any advice.
I took picture of pattern instructions and hope it uploads

Where is your beginning of round marker, at the Front somewhere? It might be easier to knit over to the first set of underarm markers rather than breaking the yarn. Your needles are in place to do that. Then bind off the 11sts, work across the Back to the second set of markers and bind off 11sts. Then work across the Front to the end (I assume that’s the end of the front sts, the beginning of the underarm bind off for the first set of markers).

If you decide to break the yarn instead, leave about a 6 inch tail attached to the vest. You can weave that end in later. Then you would have to slip the stitches of the front to the right hand needle until you get the tips of your needles at the first set of underarm markers. Attach a new end of yarn leaving about a 6 inch tail and begin the underarm bind off. Seems unnecessary to me to break the yarn but that’s really your choice.
One thing that will help when you work the back is to note the row you stopped on so there’ll be no confusion when you go return to work the back.

Thank you!! Of course now that you say just slip all those stitches over it makes perfect sense.
I think I will just break the yarn and slip the stitches over as you suggest.
Sometimes you just can’t see for looking!!!
Have a great day.
