Help with charts

I am completely new to knitting with charts - when the instructions say to “work in pattern” on WS rows and there is no pattern shown on the charts for WS rows - does that mean that you are repeating the first row only backwards???

It means to knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you. So if there is a purl on your left needle next, purl it. If there is a knit, knit it.
