Help with carry

afghan from the new knitty, every 6 rows you change strands, one from the inside, one from the outside, says to carry along side… how do you do this? i thought you just kinda picked it up when you needed it, not too loose and not too tight, but boy does that look ugly. should i be twisting the strands or something?

Try to either twist the strands, or make sure that the one not in use is up against the side of the afghan when you use your working color. Kind of lay the old color over the new color. It will be held up against the side and not make a loop. Not invisible, but not blatant, either.
