Ok, I think something went terribly wrong with my gauge because the hat is too small. I know it’s supposed to be small, but this can’t possibly fit on a human head. I did one a couple weeks ago on one of my looms and it seemed to come out about the right size. This hat is the first one I’ve ever made using knitting needles so I’m not surprised it came out wrong. Did you use the needles they called for or did you have to adjust it? When I did the gauge swatch it came out right so I’m a bit :?? here.
Oh, here are pics. The blue one is the loom one, the peach one is the knit one. And my cat has graciously decided to help model them for me.
Ummm, never mind. I figured out what I did, but I’m not gonna share because I feel like a spaz. So all’s well that ends well. And I suppose I should be thrilled that it actually came out looking like a hat. That’s always a plus.
Ok, what the heck?!?! Now I have to tell you what I did. I apparently looked at the needle sizes for the sport weight yarn instead of the sizes for the worsted weight (I used sizes 6 and 8 needles instead of 8 and 10). Well, last night I decided to try knitting it with the 8’s and 10’s and it was STILL coming out roughly the same size. Now I’m just about to say the heck with it and continue making the caps on my loom.
