Help with baby sweater

Hi wonderful knitters,
I am a new knitter and I am on my first project baby sweater.
What does carry the yarn up side mean. Do I put it in with the last stitch on that side? Any help will be appreciated.

I assume you’re changing colors, and instead of cutting and starting the new color over and over again, just bring it up the side until you need it again. If it’s more than a couple of rows, you can bring the yarn in use under the other color hanging off the edge to kind of hold it to the side. But since you’re probably seaming this edge, don’t get yourself crazy with it.

It sounds like you’re using a couple of colours and need to carry the yarn not presently in use, up the side of your work.

I don’t know if there’s a “correct” way to do it, but what I do is:
When I have the right side facing and am about to start knitting, I put the yarn I’m carrying over the top of the yarn I’m using, then continue knitting with my working yarn. That way the yarn being carried is fastened in to the side of the work, and its nice and neat. Just be sure not to pull your carrying yarn tight or the knitted fabric will be pulled out of shape.

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try.
