Help with baby blanket

Hi,

I need help with this baby blanket http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90235AD.html?r=1&r=1. It is an enterlac blanket. Here is the part that I’m stuck on:

Last (Half) Block
From WS, pick up and purl 9 sts along edge of last triangle, turn.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15: K to end of block, turn.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: P to last 2 sts, p2tog, turn.
Row 16: P2tog, turn.
Change to C.
Row 17 (RS): K1, do not turn – 1 st on right needle.

I pick up the stitches so I have 9 stitches on the left needle and I also have 9 stitches on my left needle. When I do what the instructions say it doesn’t decrease enough and I still have to many stitches left. I think I am missing something :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks in advance
Elizabeth

When you do the even numbered rows and p2tog at the end of them, one of the sts you purl will be from the left needle and one from the right needle. So when you purl them together you join the blocks of sts.

I just tried that, it didn’t work, it still ends up having to many stitches left at the end of row 16. I think the pattern might be messed up?

Oh wait, I think I read it wrong. You don’t p2tog with the end sts from the 2 different needles, but from just that one block of 9 sts. It makes a half block, a triangle at the edge.

I am so confused :stuck_out_tongue:

The link you posted didn’t work. Do you have the correct one?

this is where i’m stuck plus the next part.

Second Row of Blocks

First Block
From WS, pick up and purl 8 more sts evenly along edge of first triangle (for a total of 9 sts on right needle), turn.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15: K to end of block, turn.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: P8, p2tog, turn.
Row 16: P8, p3tog, place marker for end of block, do not turn.

Next Block
*From WS, pick up and purl 9 sts evenly along edge of next triangle, turn.
Rows 1-16: Work Rows 1-16 of First Block.
Rep from * 5 (6) more times.

Third Row of Blocks

First Block
From RS, pick up and knit 8 more sts along edge of first block (for a total of 9 sts on right needle), turn.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15: P to end of block, turn.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: K8, ssk, turn.
Row 16: K8, sk2p, place marker for end of block, do not turn.

Please don’t post an entire pattern. It’s against copyright regulations. Could you edit the post to just the last part.

I got the link to work this time, must have been my computer.

Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with the pattern. You’re going to work that half block on the sts you just picked up. Just dec them on the purl rows until you have one left.

ok I will try to get it to work. Thanks for your help

I’ve been working on this for a while and I still end up with more then one stitch left over. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Alright, lets break it down –

From WS, pick up and p 9 sts along edge of last triangle, turn. Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15: K to end of block, turn.

You now have 9 sts on the needle, and you knit them on the RS rows.

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14: P to last 2 sts, p2tog, turn.

At this point you should have 2 sts left.

Row 16: P2tog, turn.

Turn and purl the 2 sts tog. How many do you have? You keep saying ‘too many’, but how many exactly?

I pick up the 9 and i also have 9 blue from the first triangles, that is where the problem is coming in.

Ignore the 9 sts on the other triangle, you’re only going to work on the sts you picked up.
