Help with baby blanket pattern

I have been knitting for awhile, but not much lately. I have a new niece or nephew on the way, so I started a new baby blanket. It’s a pattern I haven’t used before, and I am having some problems.

Here are the rows leading up to the “problem row:”

P4, WYF slip 3, (P3, WYF slip 3) across to last 4 sts, P4
K4, WYB slip 3, (K3, WYB slip 3) across to last 4 sts, K4
Knit across
Purl across

And the one I’m having difficulty with…
K5, *insert right needle under loose strands and knit together with next st, K5; repeat from * across

There is a picture of the loose strands and knit together with next stitch, but I end up increasing by the 2 loose strands, so I end up with 3 stitches on my right needle each time I do this.

Please help! :??

Since your new kninda of try with somethintg easeir like I know P4 is purl 4 stitches and K4 is knit 4 stitches i will try to learn more

Is this supposed to look like a little v when you’re done? I’ve done something similar, and when you slip the needle under the strands you only knit the next stitch and then bring it back from under the two strands so that the strands are behind it. Does that sound like what you’re doing?

Bump. I am on this same pattern with the same issue. My thing is, I have already done a row like this; ripped it out and re-done it. That was many rows ago and I’m back on this one row with this phrase. I haven’t seen an answer to this?

I have discovered that you can do as the last posted suggested and it looks fine, but without having any additional graphics, or directions, I wasn’t sure I was supposed to do that.

Tikki :knitting:

Slipping the sts with the yarn in front puts a strand of yarn in front of the stitches; slipping with the yarn in back puts the strand in front of the stitches on the other side. That’s all you do there. Ingrid was asking if on later rows you pull up the strand or knit one st from underneath it so it pulls up. A link to the pattern would be good, or posting the next couple rows.
