Help with a sampler pattern

Please help! I am not sure if I am reading this pattern correctly or is it written wrong? Every time I knit it I end up short 4 stitches. I am a new knitter and may be missing something.

Cast on 33
Row 1 (rs) knit
Row 2 purl
Row 3 k8, yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k11,
yo, sl 1, k2tog, psso, yo, k8.
Every time I try to do row 3 it’s short 4 stitches.

Although I have only been knitting since January, I have made socks on DPN’s and an afghan with circular needles.

When I count the stitches you should have at the end of row 3 it comes out with the correct number. Are you doing the increases and decreases correctly?

Thanks for the help I will try again.
I got the pattern out of a book (beautiful hand-knit baby blankets) so I couldn’t post a link :frowning:
This is what happens when a grandpa tries to knit a baby blanket

Congrats grandpa and good for you for making this blanket!
Remember too that a yarn over doesn’t use a stitch. You bring the yarn to the front between the needles, then over the righthand needle to the back. That’s it.

That’s awesome grandpa! :yay: You’ll get it!

I got it! I was doing the psso wrong. I thought psso was slip one knit 1 then pull the slipped stitch over. I found a youtube video that fixed my problem. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
