Help with a question about a pattern

Hey all,
I’m sure this is super easy for all you experienced and even not so experienced knitters, but I would like a clarification on something in this pattern.

After Row 3, it says “[SIZE=2]Working the first and last 4 sts in Seed Stitch and continuing to slip the first st of every row”.

Does that mean…slip the first stitch and then do a knit, purl, knit purl and then start the pattern…or does it mean slip the first stitch, do a purl, knit, purl.

Slip the first of the seed stitch, so start with Sl P K P or Sl K P K
and end the row with whatever the appropriate stitch would be.
