I am hoping someone can help with this little dilemma. I am making a sweater, which has a pocket on the front. I followed the directions(well, I at least believe that I have, went back and reviewed them, still would have done it the same way) Anway, the pocket came out incorrectly. It has you make the pocket opening, then also knit the pocket lining. So far so good, but when I finished it, it seems like it came out upside down. The pattern starts at the bottom of the left front, working up the front…till the directions for the pocket opening. The instructions are as follows:
Pocket opening: 1st row: Work 29 stitches, place last 17 sts worked on st holder for pocekt liner, work across remainings stitches.
2nd row: Work to st holder, cast on 17 stitches for pocket edge, work to end.
(from here, you continue with the rest of the front) Then the directions go back to the pocket as follows:
For pocket liner: Place sts from holder onto needle, attatch yarn and work for 3". Bind off. Sew edges of liner to jacket.
I have not sewn liner, because the opening is above the liner, and therefore the pocket would be upside down. I am hoping someone can give me some insight. Is there a step missing? Did I do something wrong? ( I know its hard without seeing it, but maybe you’ve seen this before?) If all else fails, I will remove the work back to where the pocket is, and finish the piece without the pocket. It would be OK without it, but its nicer looking with the pocket.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
