Help with a pattern

I’m making a baby sacque - I have the left front 38sts , left sleeve 51 sts, back 68 st, right sleeve 51 sts, & right front 38 sts - working on the yoke it says to put all these parts on one needle 246 sts and continue st.st. until the lower edge of the back measures 5 1/2 inches. Here is my problem next directions are Short Rows What are short rows?- Row 1 - K to within 10 sts of end.
Row 2 - Turn, slip1, p to within 10 sts of end. Row 3 Turn slip 1 k to within 4 sts of end of previous row. Row 4 turn, slip 1 p to within 4 sts of end of previous row. Repeat rows 3 and 4 6 times, end with 38 sts each side of last short row. Question What do you do with the 10 sts of row 1 do you just slip on the beginning of row 2, and so on?

If anyone can explain it I would be very grateful Thank you Its a baby sweater set for my first grandchild - Marie

Short rows are where you don’t work all the way to the end. Row 1, knit until there’s 10 sts left, then turn and slip the 1st st on row 2, purl until there’s 10 sts left, etc. Just leave the 10 sts on the end of the needle and you’ll knit them later after you’re done with the short rows.
