Hi everyone,
I’m currently knitting some booties for my baby which is due in 8 days (so I better get moving:knitting:), and I’m a little unsure of the pattern.
It says:
Cast on 2 sts at beg of next row and foll alt row 1 time.
Does this mean when starting a new row, I cast on 2 stitches, then knit across these stitches as well as all the stitches on the needle, knit another row, and then cast on 2 stitches, then knit across these stitches as well as all the stitches on the needle again?
First, blessings on your upcoming birth. How exciting!
Now on to the knitting. You have it pretty much right. Cast on 2 stitches, then knit across the already knit stitches on the needle. (You can’t work the new cast on stitches until you are on the next row.) Then work your next row (I assume you are knitting this one too.) Then cast on 2 more stitches at the beginning of the next row and knit across the stitches that are already on the needle. Again, you will work the new cast on stitches on the row after that.
To clarify zkimom’s instructions… When you CO at the beginning of the row, you have to work over the new sts to get to the rest of them. And ordinarily you would also CO at the beginning of the next row. But it’s worded so strangely - and foll alt row 1 time'. Usually thefoll alt row’ means every other row. This sounds like both COs will be on the same edge. Can you tell from the picture?
