Help with a pattern please

Hi
I’ve knitted a Sirdar Faroe Super Chunky cardigan which was quite easy for a novice, but I don’t understand the neckband part. I’ve joined the raglan seams.
Pattern says to pick up and knit 14 sts evenly along right side of neck, 7 sts from 8 cast off sts at top of right sleeve.
I understand the pick up and knit 14 sts, but I have no idea what the rest of it means.
Would someone be able to explain please?
Many thanks.

At the top of the sleeve, you would have bound off the final 8 stitches. Pick up 7 along this edge.

Make sense?

Many thanks for the reply Ingrid, but no, I’m not sure what you mean.
Can you explain what to do next now I’ve picked up the 14 sts along the neck?

You’re going to pick up a total of 21 stitches, 14 along the right front side and 7 along the top of the sleeve.

What comes next would be the next line in your directions. What does the next line say?

When you seamed the raglan sleeves into place, the top of the sleeve (where the 8sts were cast off) formed part of the neck. If you’ve picked up the 14sts on the front, the next part of the neck is formed by the sleeve. Continue picking up and knitting sts across the top of the sleeve (7sts here). The next direction shoulf be picking up sts from the back of the sweater, then the second sleeve top and finally the left side of the front.

Thanks for the replies both, I’ve posted the neckband pattern below, that should make it easier:

Pick up & knit 14 sts evenly along right side of neck, 7 sts from 8 cast off sts at top of right sleeve, 18 sts from back of neck, 7 sts from 8 cast off sts at top of left sleeve and 14 sts evenly along left side of neck. 60 sts.

Then the pattern for the rib starts.

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the pattern. Continue picking up and knitting sts across the sleeve at the cast off edge in the same way that you picked up and knit sts along the right front.

Thanks very much for the help. I’ll have a go later and let you know how I got on. Fingers crossed.
