Help with a pattern please?

I’m very proud of myself - I’ve done the entire body of this cardigan - I’m quite a newbie to knitting and have only done blankets so far, k & P! :woot:

However I’m stuck with the sleeves and wondered if someone could point me in the right direction please?

With the right side facing, locate the centre bottom of the sleeve opening. Pick up two stitches from the left of the opening and continue knitting the round, picking up two additional stitches onto needle 3

“right side facing”… does it mean the right side of the knitting (purls?), and does it mean facing to me or away from me?

i’ve never used DPNs before so this is really new.

How do I know which 2 DPN to use first?

“pick up 2 sts from the left opening”… pick them up from where? The previous needle? Or increase? :aww:

I have 2 needles either side of the bottom opening of the sleeve under the arm) and one laying across the top (in line with shoulder)

Many thanks in advance for help offered!

Right side facing means the knit side will be facing you. With the sts on 3 dpns, take the empty one and pick up 2 sts from the underarm, where you knit the body sts. These are added sts, not ones you already have on the needles. You may need to look at the video for picking up, which is near the bottom of the Tips page. And the one for knitting on dpns which is on the Advanced Techniques page.

Thanks very much, I found 2 vidoes in the help section with picking up and using DPNs.

The right side facing thing threw me though. I’ve done it the opposite way around but it seems to be working fine, thank goodness!

Thank you for replying!!

Right side doesn’t mean right edge, it means with the knit stitch side facing, not the purl side.

That’s what I thought but I think it’s the way I sorted the DPNs made it wrong side. Bt I managed it!! We have 1 sleeve!!! I feel so proud :roflhard:
