The pattern is “free your fade”. 15sts on needle after garter rows. Next step is an eyelet row: sl1wyif,k2tog,k1,yo,k2tog,k1,triple-yo,k2tog,k1,yo,k2tog,k1,k1-f/b/f,k1 (1 st inc’d). The problem is I end up with 18 stitches instead of 16 every time I do it.
Help with a drea Renee knits pattern
I’ve counted six times and came up with six different totals. Is the triple yo an increase of 2 or just a big eyelet? I’ll just leave the pattern link.
The row starts with 15sts and ends with 18 by my count too.
There are 7sts increased (2 single yo, 3 new sts from the triple yo, 2sts from the kfbf).
There are 4sts decreased (4 k2tog).
If as GG said you count the triple yo as one stitch then it’s an increase of one instead of 3 but that’s not quite fair since it depends on the following row. Maybe that’s the way the pattern designer is counting it however and coming up with 16. Go figure.
What is the next row? You can check whether the stitch count there requires 16 or 18sts.
I woke up this morning and figured out that it is an eyelet so it counts as one stitch. Thank you for your help as always
