Hiya guys,
I’m knitting James C Brett JB342 cardi (link and photo attached) and there a bit of wrap /turn around the collar to widen it more than the rest of the trim going up the front.
So I’ve got to that bit and going back and forth with wrap/turn just on that area , had done 5 rows which were clear, then came to this:
“…Work 18 rows working 3 sts more between each wrap 1…”
That is exactly what it says. Anyone any idea what that means?
Each row up til then had involved more stitches than the last before wrap/turn so was increasing the size of the area. But that sentence makes no sense to me.
Assuming you’re picking up the w&t stitch then continuing, I would interpret it as pick up the w&t, k3, w&t.
What is the established pattern for the short rows? I wish there were a larger photo showing the collar better.
Hi GG, that makes two of us grumps
So here is the pattern
So starting at the bottom of the cardi & knitting first row of the front panel up towards the neck…
"Commencing with 1st row of 2x2 rib proceed as follows:
Rib 78, wrap 1, turn.
Next row rib 14 , wrap 1 , turn
Next row rib 17, wrap 1, turn
Next row, rib 20, wrap 1, turn
Next row, rib 23, wrap 1, turn
Work 18 rows working 3sts more between each wrap 1.
Would “work short rows as established” make more sense? In effect you pick up the w&t then rib 2 more sts, w&t. You’ll work (listed already) 14, 17, 20, 23, then (not listed) 26 w&t, 29 w&t, 32 w&t, etc. until you’ve done 18 rows, or 9 pairs, of short rows. If I have this wrong someone will surely let us know.
I needed to add some short row shaping on my WIP and I remembered to do it, thanks to you! My grands will argue that I’m not grumpy. What do they know?

I tried to respond yesterday and couldn’t post. Trying again.

Yes, I would agree. continue with the short rows, each time working 3 sts beyond the last w&t. Do this until 18 rows have been worked.
Hi girls, I cant get into the forum it seems to be down. So IDK if this will work instead.
You were both right! Thanks lovelies! Well on my way to finishing this now :)))
