Help while knitting bottee strap!

Hello All,
I am quite new to knitting. I have successfully completed a pair of baby booties, but now doing another pair with straps and am confused at some instructions given to make the strap.

I have 39 stitches on my need and the last row I did was to purl.
The next set of instructions are confusing:
Row 18: Bind off 8 sts, k4, bind off 26 sts to end of row. Cut yarn and rejoin it to the 5 sts remaining on the needle

Row 19: K5 (these 5 sts form strap)
Knit further 19 rows or required length
Row 39 K2, yfd, k2tog,k1 (button hole)

I am stuck at Row 18. I have bound off the said sts and have 5 stitches remaining on the needle. 4 together and then a space and then 1 stitch.
I don’t know what they mean by rejoin it to the 5 sts remaining on the needle.

As I said, I have 4 stitches together then a space and then the 5th stitch. After cutting the yarn, where do I rejoin??

Please help.
Thanks in advance.

4 together and then a space and then 1 stitch.

These should be together with no space between them and that’s the 5 sts the pattern is talking about. Just start knitting on them with the yarn end and leave a tail so you can weave it in later.

Thanks a lot Suzeeq!!

After doing the previous few rows again, I found what I was doing wrong. Now the 5 stitches are together and I understood what is meant by cut yarn and rejoin. So silly of me. :stuck_out_tongue:
