I am making my first scarf. The pattern is 10 rows garter 10 rows stockinette. Well I had to frog some of it and now dont know which side to start my knit row to start the stockinette block. Do I do the knit row on the right side of my scarf or on the wrong side. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! :wall:
Help! Which side stockinette stitch
To do a stockinette stitch you’ll knit on the side where the ‘v’ is. The side that looks like it has nothing but bumps is the purl side.
So the back side of my scarf is the one with just the bumps and that is the side to be worked now so to start my block I need to purl? So that I will get the flat v’s on the front of my fabric? I thought you always had to start with an extra knit row?
The back of a knit is a purl; the back of a purl is a knit. When the knit V side is facing you, and you’re working stockinette, you knit. When the bumpy purl side is facing you, you purl it.
