Which yarn do you think would be better to replace GGH Esprit for?
She is the type of girl who needs EVERYTHING to be machine washable… and from what I read this yarn isnt…
Do you think Bernat Cottontots would be ok? i want something that will be soft and also look nice… :??

They have a close-up picture of it. I’m not sure if you would get the same kind of result with the cottontots. When I first looked at the picture of the skirt, I thought it was felted from the appearance. I don’t think that you would get that same look. I’m not sure what other yarns would be similar to the esprit- I looked at a bunch of other “boucle” yarns, and they all said to hand wash, dry flat.

Are you looking for the same texture effect? I found this on Yarndex that is machine wash and dryable. It would help of they had a search feature for “washable”, but they don’t. I just lucked out.

Jan, I checked the one you found and they dont have many colors… (she asked for the same colors of the pic but instead of blue, pink)
Well that would definitely give it some color and it’s pretty, but it’s a different weight…DK vs bulky so you’d have to take that into consideration.
DK… Bulky… it is getting confused… will I need to change the pattern in some way? Or use double strands if I go for the cotton? :??
Best bet would be to make a test swatch and see how it is going to knit up in comparison to the pattern. The pattern looks fairly straightforward and looks like it could lend itself to increasing or decreasing. Or possibly double stranding to see if it meets the gauge called for.
