I have been working on a Rowan Iris pattern (a shrug) and have ripped it out several times now–the part I am having trouble with is the short row/wrap. I think I have finally gotten it down–mostly. The garment I am making is here:
Here’s the “problem”: (the garment is st st on RS)
On the LEFT front of the garment, the RS looks like st st, and I cannot see the wrapped stitch at all from the RS.
On the RIGHT front side of the garment, I can see where I wrapped the stitch on the RS of the garment–the wrapped stitch lays tightly around another stitch, and is not very noticeable, but still, it is there.
Now, from the picture in the book (which is on the web site above), I cannot really tell which is correct. Should I be seeing my wrapped stitch on the RS of the garment? In another incarnation of the LEFT front, I could very obviously see my wrapped stitch, and the wraped stitched created a “slanted line” on the RS, and together all the wrapped stitches formed a bit of a design. I decided this wasn’t right (based on the pic in the book) and ripped it all out. I wish the pic was a bit clearer.
Does anyone have any ideas on how this is really supposed to look? This is my first knitting project (well, now my second because I set it aside during the holidays in order to make a baby blanket), but I fear that by the time I am done with it, shrugs will no longer be in style!!!
Thanks in advance,
melissa
