Help w/rice stitch

I INCREASED TWO ON SWEATER BACK> HOW DO YOU KEEP IN PATTERN AFTER INCREASING? I’M WORKING THE RICE STITCH.

Do you increase again in a few rows? since Rice Stitch is 2 + 1 stitches, you’ll probably need to keep that lone stitch in stockinette stitch until you’ve increased again, then you can incorporate the 2 stitches into the rice pattern.

hope that makes sense-

When you’re working a pattern stitch that is increased, you need to expand the pattern on each side after the increases.

5 4 3 2 1 / XXXXXXXXXXXX 1 2 3 4 5

The red stitches are the starting stitches and the numbers are the increases. As Mirl56 said, you can work the increases in stockinette until you have enough for a pattern repeat, or do part of the pattern, depending on the stitches involved.

After your first increase, put a stitch marker between the new stitch and the established stitches. This helps you keep track of how many increases you’ve made and when to start a new repeat.

I’m going to try it . Thanks for the info. This won’t be the first time I’ve had to rip out.

OK, I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the info.
