Help w/ Lover's Knot Afghan

I’m making the Lover’s Knot Afghan from Lion Brand and I can’t wrap my head around this Row’s direction

“Row 22: P3, (k2, p2) twice, k2, sl last 6 sts worked onto cable needle and wrap yarn 4 times counterclockwise around these 6 sts, sl 6 sts back to right-hand needle, p2, k2, p3.”

I just don’t get it. Plus, it says to slip the 6 sts back to right-hand needle, then p2, k2, p3, but if those 6 are the last 6 sts, what do I p2, k2, p3? They wouldn’t be on the right needle? Also, that adds up to 7 not 6. UGH! It’s probably the simplest thing in the world, but I just don’t get it.

Okay, I have part of it worked out…I missed the “worked” part of ‘last 6 sts worked’. My silliness there. Still not sure about the wrapping part though.

It might clear up for me in the morning, but even so, confirmation would be nice.

TIA

Once you’ve moved the 6 sts to your cable ndl, you’ll wrap the yarn around them 4x ccw. Would probably be facilitated by using a J-hook style cable ndl or large paperclip that’s undone so you can hold it above the sts while you wrap the yarn directly underneath the ndl (gathering the sts tog). Then, once the wrapping is complete (think of tying stalks or wrapping ribbon around stems) put the sts back on the right ndl and finish the sequence for that repeat.

HTH,

Vogue knitting book shows the Cluster Braid. (Sorry about the bad pic.) But you can see the wraps.

Wrap like that! I feel silly now, I was trying to wrap around the sts ON THE NEEDLE. Of course I only tried twice. Maybe I would have figured it out this morning.

I watched the video and understand how to wrap the 6 stitches, but there was really 7 stitches left, as evidenced by the last line p2, k2, p3 (7 stitches) did you wrap around all 7of these?

HI - I understand the wrapping part and putting on the right needle as if it was knitted but I agree there’s 7 stitches left, not 6 as evidenced by pattern saying p2, k2, p3 = 7 stitches. What did you do here please?

Welcome to the forum!
Row 22: P3, (k2, p2) twice, k2, sl last 6 sts worked onto cable needle and wrap yarn 4 times counterclockwise around these 6 sts, sl 6 sts back to right-hand needle, p2, k2, p3.”

After you return the wrapped sts to the right hand needle there are 7 sts remaining on the left hand needle. P2,k2,p3 across those 7sts, no wraps needed.

I don’t think these are active forum members any longer as this is an old thread.

Gorgeous cable work and afghan.
