Help w directions, please

The directions say: K3, *(k1, p1, k1) in next st (3 sts made from one), k5 * repeat between *‘s across row, ending with ( k1’ p1’ k1) in next st, k4.

Is the statement THREE STS MADE FROM ONE explaining the parens of (k1,p1,k1) in the next st

I AM SO CONFUSED!!! An now have to unknit!!! Thanks for your help

Yes, the (k1, p1, k1) is an increase of three stitches, which is verified by the directions “(3 sts made from one).”

Looks like you’re making a bobble. Do you have a name and link for the pattern?

You are literally making all three stitches in the one stitch. When you make the first stitch don’t slide it off like you normally do. Just bring the yarn forward and purl into the stitch, then move the yarn back and knit again into the stitch. Now slide them off.

Here’s a few of that stitch -

Dear knitters…thank you and thank you again!!! I’m on my way and it’s working! First time using a forum and I’ m most grateful!!!

That’s not a bobble, just a double increase. A bobble would have you work over the new sts for a couple rows then decrease down to one.

Ahh I see. I’m not a bobble fan myself, but I knew they were multiple stitches worked into one so I assumed. Yeah…I know. :teehee:

I don’t do bobbles myself, but have helped interpret a number of patterns for people.
