Help understanding a pattern

Hi there,

So this pattern I’m currently trying to understand starts with

Row 1: (k1, P1) to end. (8 sts)
Row 2: k1, (inc1) twice, K2, (inc1) twice, k1 (12 sts)

My question is whether the (inc1) twice, means that I’ll k1, Inc 1, Inc 1. Or whether it would be k1, Inc 1, k1, Inc 1?

I’m also wondering what I do once I have done the final k1 on row 2, since it doesn’t say to the end, and I’m starting with 8 stitches and row 2 only knits 4 of those.

Really not sure what to do, I’ve only ever followed basic knitting patterns. Thank you in advance (:

What increase are you using? kfb would have you k1 in the last stitch.

When possible including a link to the pattern is helpful, for future reference.

Sorry I didn’t include a link because it’s a copywrited pattern and I’ve seen them be removed on here before!

Sorry again though, I’m also not sure what increase I’m using, the pattern simply says that Inc means an increase where you knit into the front and back of a stitch. Although by answering this I think I’ve worked it out :joy: I think that it means I’ll increase the next stitch and the next stitch, so getting the extra four through increasing those four times it states increase! Is that right?

You got it. Kfb is knit front and back. No need to apologize. Links to patterns are fine, it’s posting patterns or a large portion of them that’s a problem. It’s hard to find a published pattern that isn’t copyrighted. You say you’ve seen links that had to be removed though. Maybe @salmonmac can clarify for us. Enjoy your knitting and feel free to ask any questions you have. There should be someone around who can help.

GG’s right. Due to copyright we can’t post patterns or large portions of patterns here. Links to the patterns are fine.
