Hi im new to knitting and trying a pattern out of my knit step by step book. Im in the middle of a babys cardigan and the next bit says
Inc row (ws): k1, m1, k to end (55sts). Knit 3 rows without shaping. Cont increasing at neck edge as set by inc row on next and foll 3 alt rows, then at neck edge of foll 2 rows.(61sts).
I get the first part of knit 1 make 1 knit to end but after that I have no idea
Can anyone help me please ???
Welcome to KnittingHelp!
You’re going to increase at the neck edge on the next row (call that row 1) and then on rows 3,5,7,8 and 9.
Hello and thank you that makes perfect sense now thank you for your help
Hi, I’m new to this site and I had googled the exact same question. I’ve been knitting very basic patterns for a while and decided to knit a cardigan for my niece who’s due in October. I chose this pattern as it said it was easy for beginners. I have stumbled at the same point ![]()
Really don’t want to end up undoing my work.
Welcome to the forum!
Honestly, I think it’s a cruel trick to label patterns for beginners. They invariably cause the greatest number of problems.
Does it make sense now or do you still have a question? Let us know the pattern name and designer and the size you’re making if you need help.
I’ve managed to work out the bit I was stuck on but stumbled again ![]()
This is knitting for you. We all go through this but the more patterns you read, the easier it gets.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you need help.
Thanks, why would you cast on at the beginning of a sleeve or do you think I’ve missed a row somewhere?
What is the name and designer of your pattern?
It depends on how the sweater and sleeve are knit. Let us know the pattern and designer please and we’ll all try to help. You can quote a row or two if you think it will help but don’t give us more of the pattern. We can’t post large portions of patterns do to designer copyright.
Thanks for the help, I’ve managed to finish the cardigan and really pleased with it ![]()
That’s great! We’d love to see a photo if you would like to post one.
Here goes ![]()
That’s adorable and will look a treat on your niece! Very nicely done.
