Hello everyone, I am a newbie learning to knit. I just finished a basic hat and a scarf for my husband. I now want to make a Cowl for myself with the following pattern but I am having difficulty understanding the pattern, I tried it but did something wrong.
This is a free pattern for Chunky Lace Cowl:
Row 3 *(p2tog) twice, (yo, k1) 3 times, yo, (p2tog) twice; repeat from * 4 more times
Rows 4 knit
Repeat these rows 7 more times
I need help with the Row 3, B twice[/B]

The p2tog twice means to purl 2 stitches together as one, do this twice. Written out it looks like this: p2tog, p2tog,. You are making decreases by this action to balance the increases you are doing with the yarn overs. I have knit this pattern before. It is called feather and fan. It is not hard to do once you understand how the stitches work.
Thank you… I am trying the pattern. Hopefully will succeed this time… I know where I was going wrong, I was not doing the yo, before knitting so there was no increase, only decrease with p2tog…
