Help? Stockinette in the round with dpn's

I know that when you’re working in the round for stockinette, you just knit every round. But when I do it, it come’s out backwards (purl side out). I’ve done it a few time’s, and figured I’d just turn it inside out and work with the sock (only thing I’ve done so far) coming out of the top then it worked. But it’s somewhat awkward with a baby sock, so I can’t imagine doing an adult sock like that.

My question is what am I doing wrong? I know it’s hard with just a description, so I can take picture’s if it’s needed. Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpful.

the stockinette part can end up flipping in on itself so that all you see is the purl side on the outside. what you can do is take it and flip it back out the “right” way and keep on knitting. As long as you follow the pattern and you are knitting the right stitches, you should be on the right track.

Sometimes when it flips on itself, you may end up catching yourself knitting the purls, DON’T knit the purls! Only knit the knits. If I didnt answer your question, pictures may help me to help you better

Thanks, that sort of helped. Hard to me invision it without seeing it in front of me. I think I’ll take some picture’s tomorrow. Thanks anyways though

Are you knitting from the needle closest to you? Pretend it’s cup and knit from the side you would drink from. Even after knowing this, it took me several projects before I started them this way! I used to knit a few rows and then have to turn it right side out.

Okay. Well I just watched the video on dpn’s… again. And realized I guess I was doing it right. Seemed awkward, but maybe that’s just because I’m not really used to it. And you guy’s helped, so thanks a bunch.
