Help Shaping Armholes

Hi! I am really struggling to understand my pattern, how many stitches to decrease on each row and on which rows I am supposed to be decreasing. Help please!

I understand the instructions for Next Row however am completely lost after that. Every time I do the math when I start with 50 stitches i never end up with 30.

Next row (RS): Cast off 4 [5: 5: 6: 6] sts, K to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2. 40 [45: 50: 54: 59] sts.

Working all armhole decreases in same way as back armhole decreases, and all front neck decreases as set by last row, dec 1 st at armhole edge of 2nd and 4 [6: 8: 8: 10] foll rows, then on foll 4 [5: 5: 6: 6] alt rows and at same time dec 1 st at neck edge of 2nd [2nd: 2nd:4th:4th] and foll 3 [2:1:-:-] alt rows, then on 1 [3:4:4:5] foll 4th rows. 26 [27: 30: 34: 36] sts.

Thank you in advance!

Hello
The decreases do add to 20 but it’s hard to follow the patterns sometimes isn’t it?

Armhole dec on 2nd and 8 following rows = 9 dec
Then in foll 5 alt rows = 5 dec (9+5=14 at armhole)
At the same time
Neck edge dec on 2nd and foll 1 alt row = 2 dec
Then on 4 following 4th rows = 4 dec (2+6=10 at neck edge)

Total 14+6= 20
So it should work out right if you start with 50 and end up with 30…

You have to track the rows to get the armhole and neck edge decreases on the correct rows with them happening at the same time.

Does this help?
