This pattern is rated easy by 22 users on Ravelry, but I can’t understand it at all! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/soft-n-seamless-baby-sweater
It starts with the neck band and buttonholes but doesn’t say how many to make, only to make them 2 inches apart… and then it does not seem to have directions in order. :whoosh:
Can anyone help me decipher it? :?? I’ve already got the first part of the neckband done and am about to put in a button hole.
Thanks in advance,
Laura
The directions appear okay, though a bit basic.
You’re right, it does not say how many buttonholes to place, just to place them about every two inches. The Ravelry photo shows 5.
The collar (neck band) is made first. The first button hole is placed on the collar. From there you switch from garter stitch to stockinette (except for the button bands). You’ll place markers for the raglan sleeves, work some increases and eventually put the sleeve stitches on holders. You will continue on with the body of the sweater to the hem where you once again put a garter stitch border/hem. Then go back and work the sleeves.
The body is worked flat.
The sleeves are worked in the round.
It doesn’t say to switch to stockinette - at least I can’t see it! Am I blind?
Ok, I think I get it. The repeat buttonholes messed me up. After you get the 4 rows of ridges, you do the set up row where you mark the sleeves etc… and it does say k however many etc…
Thanks Rochester!

In the raglan section it notes Row 1 as WS. You are told to knit stitches for the buttonband, place a marker and then PURL. It’s not explicit (i.e. work in stockinette), but looking at the photo you can see that the body is in stockinette and the buttonband is in garter.
