Help reading pattern

Hi there. I’m working on Sirdar Boy’s V Neck Cardigan right now. I have done a few rows of 2x2 rib stitch and have now started working on the stocking stitch part.

The instructions says:

Working in st-st (throughout) cont until back measure 12cm, ending with a ws row.

May I know if the 12cm includes the 2x2 rib portion or just the st-st portion?

Thank you!

Hello
This will be the total length of the back, from where you cast on to where your needles are, including the rib section. Otherwise it would more likely say “12cm from…” (eg last rib row, last decrease row etc).

Thank you for your help. I have another question on reading the pattern at the sleeves portion.

The pattern reads:

Change to 5mm needles and working in st-st (throughout) inc 1 st at each end of 5th and every foll 2nd row to 29 sts.
Inc 1 st at each end of every fall 4th row to 37 sts.

I got the increase, but I am not sure if I have to knit one more purl row after the increase to 29sts (row 7 below for the first line) before starting the second line of the instructions?

What I think it says is:
First line
Row 1: knit
2: purl
3: knit
4: purl
5: knit, increase +2 sts [27 sts]
6: purl
7: knit, increase +2 sts [29 sts]

Second line
Row 1: p
2: k
3: p
4: k, increase +2 sts [31 sts]
and so on in rows 8, 12, 16.

You’ve got it right :+1:

There’s no extra purl row before starting the “every following 4th”. If they wanted that it would say next row purl or next row work straight or it would say the next following 5th row… some sort of instruction.

Follow what you’ve set out above. :slightly_smiling_face:

Great! Thank you so much!
