help reading pattern

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me understand a pattern I am working on. Here is the chart

Panel Pat A (worked over 12 sts) Panel Pat B (worked over 9 sts)

1st row: (RS). P2. C4B. C4F. P2. 1st row: (RS). K3. C6B.
2nd and alt rows: K2. P8. K2. 2nd and alt rows: P9
3rd row: P2. K8. P2. 3rd: K9
4th row: K2. P8. K2. 4th row: P9
5th row: P2. C4F. C4B. P2. 5th row: C6F. K3.
6th row: K2. P8. K2. 6th row: P9
7th row: P2. K8. P2. 7th row: K9
8th row: K2. P8. K2. 8th row: P9
These 8 rows form Panel Pat A. These 8 rows form Panel Pat B.

then after working these 4 rows below, the instructions say

Proceed as follows:
1st row: (RS). K6.
(K1. Work 1st row of Panel Pat A) 2 times.
K1. P2. (Work 1st row of Panel Pat B) 5 times
P2. K1.
(Work 1st row of Panel Pat A., K1) 2 times.
K6
2nd row: Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear. (ie. K2.P8.K2)
3rd row: K6
(K1. Work 3rd row of Panel Pat A) 2 times. K1. P2.
(Work 3rd row of Panel Pat B) 5 times. P2. K1.
(Work 3rd row of Panel Pat A. K1) 2 times. K6
4th row: As 2nd row.
Panel Pats A and B are now in position.
Cont. in pat until 9 reps of Panel Pat A and B have been completed

I am finding it difficult to comprehend because on these 4 rows, 1st row they are letting you complete row 1 of Panel A & B then it jumps to 3rd row of Panel A & B. when you’re cont. with pat, I am confused what you start with. Kindly assist me wrapping my head around with where to start to cont. in pat until 9 reps of Panel A and B have been completed. Thank you for the help.
Linda

These 4 rows set up the placement of panels A and B.
1st row: (RS). K6.(K1. Work 1st row of Panel Pat A) 2 times.
K1. P2. (Work 1st row of Panel Pat B) 5 times P2. K1.
(Work 1st row of Panel Pat A., K1) 2 times. K6

2nd row: Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear. (ie. K2.P8.K2)

3rd row: K6 (K1. Work 3rd row of Panel Pat A) 2 times. K1. P2.
(Work 3rd row of Panel Pat B) 5 times. P2. K1.
(Work 3rd row of Panel Pat A. K1) 2 times. K6

4th row: As 2nd row.

The pattern doesn’t really skip the even number rows. They are worked as the sts appear: knit the Vs and purl the bumps. Both table and set up rows indicate that.

For rows 5 and 6:
5th row: (RS). K6. (K1. Work 5th row of Panel Pat A) 2 times.
K1. P2. (Work 5th row of Panel Pat B) 5 times P2. K1.
(Work 5th row of Panel Pat A., K1) 2 times. K6

6th row: Knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear. (ie. K2.P8.K2)

What is the name of your pattern?

Thank you for your time and feedback. The name of the pattern is by Yarnspirations model

Hi sorry to bother you but after reading again everything, I am a bit confused.

Primarily with row 2.

Where in Panel Pat A row 2, it indicates “knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear” while in Panel Pat B, row 2 indicates “Purl”. So in the instructional rows below, where indicated “as 2nd row”, when do I follow:

“knit all knit sts and purl all purl sts as they appear” (row 2 in Panel Pat A)

And when do I follow “Purl” (row 2 in Panel Pat B)?

Sorry I just can’t wrap my head around this part. Thank you for your feedback.

Regards,

Linda

The instructions are actually the same. For Panel A Row 1 when you P2, C4B, C4F, P2, the second row will be K2, P8, K2 which is knit the knits and purl the purls.
For Panel B Row 1 is K2, C6B so row 2, Purl is another purl the purls (no sts will look like knits) on this WS row.

These kind of instructions can be confusing for the first couple of rows. Then it will all become easier to see.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am still confused because Panel A and Panel B are worked together within Row 1, Row 2 etc. but I will try to see if I can make sense of this. Thanks again.

Linda

Yes, they are worked together across the row but if you follow the instruction to knit the knits and purl the purls you won’t go wrong.

Give it a try.
