Help Reading Pattern--- "Front edge"

Hi,

I am new at knitting and need some help reading a Debbie Bliss Pattern from her book “Design it, Knit it, Babies,” Hooded Cardigan.

I am knitting the right front and am starting to shape the neck. The pattern says, " Cont straight until work measures 24 cm from cast-on edge, ending at front edge."

The direction of the “front edge” is confusing to me. My interpretation of front edge is the side that people will see when you wear the cardigan. But, as I knit this last row, will the front edge be facing me or away from me?

Thank you for you help!!

Toni

Your right front has a front edge (inside edge, button band area) and an outer edge (armhole or side seam area). This is not the same as the RS and/or WS.

When you get to 24cm, the last row you work (likely a WS row) should have you ending at the front edge (inside edge, button band area). You will likely now begin shaping/decreasing from this end on the subsequent row (RS).

Thank you! I was able to continue with my pattern!

Glad to hear it.
