Help reading instructions

Any help is appreciated.

This is the back of a sweater getting ready to make the underarm.

Here’s the instructions:

Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each and every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows.

My problem: If I do this:

Rs: bo 6 k to end
Ws: p to end
Rs: bo 6 k to end
Ws: p to end

Then I’m lopsided.

If I:

Rs – bo 6, k to end
Ws – bo 6 p to end
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Work even.
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7

Then the bolded section makes me lopsided.

What to I do??? sending out S.O.S. signals

I’m pretty sure this should read:
Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows.

This is what you should be doing:

Hope this helps!!

geesh, I know people make mistakes…but I am in AWE as to how many pattern corrections happen…

Thanks silver. Your instructions made sooo much more sense. I’ve already tried them and THEY WORK!!! YEAH!!!

Thanks again!

nice job silver!!! Thats a funky mistake; the “each and every” sounded wierd to me too… I was like “Well, duh, why not just say EVERY”?? Amazing how mistakes can happen… WTG!
