Help Reading a Shell Lace Pattern

I’m doing my first Shell Lace pattern and I’m learning the stitches. Part of that is learning to read the pattern. For example, the part I’m struggling with is: K2 tog, *k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k2 tog, psso; rep from * end last repeat ssk

So I understand all of it except the end. I start the row pattern over starting at the * but what does “end last repeat ssk” mean? I looked up ssk but I don’t understand the phrase in general since there is no ssk in the pattern. Thank you very much for your help!! I appreciate it

Hi,
When a pattern asks you to end a row like this, you are being asked to work the repeat again but end it in a different way the last time it is worked.

K2tog, *k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k2tog, psso; rep from *, end last repeat ssk

You are being asked to end the last repeat with a ssk instead of sl 1, k2tog, psso.

So, you would work the last repeat of the row like this:

k5, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk

Hope this makes sense

It does, thank you very much! I think it will take some practice to pay attention enough to know when it’s the last repeat of the row :joy:
