Help reading a pattern

I’m looking at a pattern for the Hemlock Ring blanket by Jared Flood (it can be found on Ravelry). I understand it except until it gets to the 14th round. I’m pretty new to knitting, so I’m confused about some of the terms. What does it mean by working 9 st in the next yo? I’ve highlighted this section in red. Any help you can provide would be great. Possibly point me to some videos?

Thank you!

Here are the first lines of the pattern:

NOTE: O = yarnover sl 1 = slip 1 st as to knit psso = pass slipped st over st just worked

Use the Emily Ocker cast on for circular knitting – or preferred method. Starting at the center,
cast on 8 sts. Divide the sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts.

1st and 2nd rnds: Knit around.
3rd rnd: (O, k 1) 8 times.
4th, 5th and 6th rnds: Knit around.
7th rnd: (O, k 1) 16 times
8th to 12th rnds incl: Knit around.
13th rnd: * K 2 tog, thread over twice, ssk Repeat from * around.

14th rnd: K 1, allow 1st O to slip off left-hand needle, work 9 sts in next O – to work 9 sts in 1,
(k 1, p 1) 4 times; k 1,-- * k 2, drop 1 O, work 9 sts in next O. Repeat from * around, ending with
k 1 (88 sts).

15th to 24th rnds incl: Knit around.
25th rnd: (O, k 11) 8 times.

It explains how to do the 9 sts in one - (k 1, p 1) 4 times, k1 - you can do k yo k yo k yo, k yo k if you prefer. Leave the st on the left needle and do the multiple sts into it.

Do I knit into the front of the stitch as normal, or knit into the back?

Hi Im doing a bernat weekend cardigan book Page29 book
530215. My question is the charts that have the (st repeat so many times) I just do the stich repeat to the end of each row? and not say go to the line highlight for size chart???

Thank you
This is the first time I have posted to any forum Hope I did it right

Knit into the front of the stitch for all the sts. Because you’re alternating the knit sts with either purls or YOs you don’t have to work into the back leg. I suggested YOs because it can get really tight doing the k p into the one st.

Thank you for your help. Once you said to leave the stitch on the left needle it started to make sense.

Thanks!

Usually the directions will tell you if you need to work some sts in a certain pattern, then go the the chart, then maybo go back to working some sts in pattern. Other patterns may say to use the chart for the entire row.
See if the written directions help. Also, count the number of sts in the chart (not necessarily the number of boxes because there may be yarn overs or k2togs) and see if that matches up to the number of sts you have.
