I don’t understand this on the sweater’s pattern that I’m in the process of making:
“Next row (RS) Work 41 sts, join 2nd ball of tarn and work to end”
I’m not out of yarn…I’m probably not understand this direction properly.

Is the second ball a different color??
You’re probably going to be putting the center stitches on a holder for the back of the neck and you’ll need the second strand to work the two shoulders separately. Just drop the first strand, and knit with the second. It will all make sense soon enough.
I dont’ really understand what to do…lol:-\
Just knit with the yarn you’ve been using for 41 stitches. Drop that strand, and start knitting with a new ball for the rest of the row.
Check the next line in the directions. I bet they say something to the effect that you’re to purl back 41, put X amount of stitches on a holder, and then, with the other strand you left behind, you’ll purl to the end of that side.
Now you have your two shoulders on the needles, each with their own strand of yarn, since they’re no longer connected.
Here is the pattern
does this piece split into 2? b/c by using 2 balls of yarn you are creating a slit. . do you have a pic of the sweater or at least the part the directions are referring to? (aka, the front, back etc??) it would help.
OK, so this looks like it’s the front since they refer to making it the same length as the back.
It does look like there’s either a slit in the front, unless the number of stitches doesn’t work out. Do the two sides have an equal number of stitches? Does the front have a slit that buttons at the top or something?
the front has a slit for the zipper, I think.
So I NECESSARILY need another yarn of the same color (I have one that is tangled:-)?

You COULD work one side at a time. Just keep track of how many rows you do on each side so they’re even.
How do you stop in the middle and then go back…I’m a semi-beginner
Thanks Ingrid and folk
Just knit halfway across and then turn and purl back the other way. You might want to put the other half on a stitch holder or strand a piece of yarn through the stitches and then take them off the needle if they get in the way.
I dont’ knit in both directions?
Work the stitches however you have been. I said purl back just because I assumed it was in stockinette stitch. Just do what you’ve been doing, back and forth on half the stitches.
Thanks…lol, you were scaring me for a minute.
Thanks again…!
P.S. I still haven’t seen you!
I don’t understand this part:
“same length as back to armhole”
I don’t understand this part:

Measure the length of the back from the cast on edge to the armhole–where you first cast off. That’s the measurement they’re looking for.
I put half on a stitch holder string, and knitted back on the row I previously did and so on…but when I finish the required amount, how do I get back to the lower half and start?
