Help! Purl Together Question

Hi, I am working on a Hooded Scarf - my first non-square item - and am stuck! Here is the pattern:

My question is, it says to “P9, K1, P1, K9, P7 tog, K9, P1, K1, P9”, but how do I purl 7 together?

Would this achieve the same thing:

Sl 4 wyif, *pass 2nd st on RH ndl over the center st, sl center st back to LH ndl and pass 2nd st on LH ndl over it, sl center st back to RH ndl; rep from * twice more. Pick up yarn and k center st.

Thanks!

Purling 7 together would be tough. An easier way to do it is to slip 6 stitches purlwise to your right needle. Purl the next stitch and then lift the previous 6 that you slipped up and over the one that you purled. It has the same result, but is a lot easier.

Great pattern! I would assume it’s like it says, purl 7 together. So when you get to that spot, you purl the next seven stitches together. I think doing that provides the hole in that scarf pattern.

also try to keep the row before the p7tog rather loose. It will make the p7 go easier on your hands.

Two words: crochet hook. It makes big multiple do-togethers a WHOLE lot easier.

That’s BRILLIANT! Great tip!:woot:
