Help please!

I have finished sewing up my jacket, in readiness for the hem to be knitted but the problem I have is that I may have made a mistake with the number of rows for the sides which are now shorter than the back. As the sides have a pattern (cable) in them i am not sure what to do. Do I add rows including the pattern to the sides first then carry on with picking up stitches all the way around the garment or can I just add extra ribbed rows for the hem to the sides. Any advice would be appreciated.
