Help please!

Hi everyone! New poster here and fairly new to knitting patterns! I’m really stuck on the sleeves of a jumper as the pattern doesn’t seem to make sense. I can’t work out how many rows I’m supposed to be doing and if I increase 1 stitch at end of each row;

I’ve attached a photo but here is text of the bit of the pattern I can’t work out too:

Change to 4mm needles.
Beginning with a k row, ss 2 rows.
Inc 1 st at each end of next row and 7 (7) (8) (8) (9) (9) (10) following 3rd (4th) (5th) (5th) (5th) (6th) (6th) rows – 49 (51) (53) (55) (57) (59) (61) sts.
Ss another 6 (7) (3) (9) (10) (7) (9) rows.

Help very very gratefully received!

Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum!
What is the name of your pattern and which size are you making, 1st, 2nd, 3rd?

Thank you!

The name of my pattern is ‘Woman’s Weekly Star Jumper’ and I’m making the biggest size (age 3-4) so the last brackets on each instruction

For the biggest size, the instructions are:
Change to 4mm needles.
Beginning with a k row, ss 2 rows.
Inc 1 st at each end of next row and (10) following (6th) rows – (61) sts.
Ss another (9) rows.

If you call the two stockinette (ss) rows 1 and 2 then you are to increase at each end of rows 3 and then 9,15,21,27,33,39,45,51,57 and 63. Finally work in stockinette stitch for 9 rows.
All the increases are going to be on knit rows.

Me again! I’m afraid I’m stuck on the star design placement this time lol! I can understand rows 1 and 2 (I’m working in the seventh size) but I don’t understand what ‘ Last 2 rows set position of star motif’ means. I know that the star motif is worked across 21 stitches but I can’t work out how many that means I need to knit prior, especially as it says I need to Dec 1 at each end of next 3 rows…. I tried knitting 20 as that was what was on rows 1 and 2 but that didn’t seem to work and I had to unpick it all.
Thank you in advance!

These are the bits I’m a bit confused about - mainly how many stitches to do on each row prior to moving to the star motif instructions…

Thank you so much!

Looks like there are 69 sts before you work the first cast off of 3 at the underarm. You could mark the center 21 right now before working the cast offs. There would be 24sts then a marker for the star, then 21sts (the star itself) followed by 24sts.
So for the first row, cast off 3sts, knit 20 more sts (that’s 21 sts on the right hand needle) then begin with the star directions: K4, yf, k2tog, k9 etc. You’ll do something similar for row 2, cast off, purl to the marker then start the star directions
Once you have the star sts marked off, you can decrease, knit to the marker then go to the star motif directions.

Thank you so much! Hadn’t even thought of a stitch marker (you can tell I’m sleep deprived with 2 small kids lol!)
Your help is so so appreciated :kissing_heart: thank you!

Oh please, I so well remember 2 small children. Glad to be able to help. The sweater is going to be adorable.
