Help please

Hi, I’m a new knitter, am making a baby sweater which calls for front and back knitted separately. It says to put my stitches onto a stitch holder at this point and then begin again to cast on for the back. Does that mean I start a new ball of yarn for the next part? Sorry if this is a silly question for seasoned knitters, but I really needed to ask before I can continue knitting. I thank you.

Hi @marlene

You don’t necessarily need to start a new ball. What I would do is to put the stitches on a stitch holder and leave a longish tail, then use the rest of the ball to start the other side. If you need to rejoin the yarn later on the knit the neckband (or whatever) this can easily be done.

Hope this helps and enjoy your knitting!
