Help Please with shoulder shaping

I’m pretty new to knitting, and I know you’ve had questions similar to this, but any help you can give me would be great. Pattern says: Work 25 sts, join 2nd ball of yarn and b/o center 25 sts, work rem 25 sts. Did that. Here’s the confusing part: Working both sides at once with sep balls of yarn, b/o 5 sts at each neck edge, and at same time, b/o 10 sts each shoulder edge twice–no sts remain.

Question: In what order do I b/o the stitches, and over how many rows am I shaping the shoulder? Are the b/o every other row? From what I’ve read, one shoulder will have one row less than the other shoulder.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

You have to bind off at the beginning of the row for the shaping, so when you are starting with the neck edges and when you are starting with the arm edges, that’s when you bind off. If there turns out to be an extra row, it won’t matter.

Can I give you some wonderful advice? Since this ‘shaping’ is so minimal, I would suggest that you don’t bind off the shoulders at all. Just knit an extra 3-4 rows and then do a three-needle bind off when you’re done. You won’t have to seam and the shoulder will look maaaahvelous!
