Help please - Making a loop

Hello. I’m at the end of making a leaf shaped baby blanket (my very first knitting project) and have a question about the pattern:

With dpns, CO 2 sts, leaving an 8" long tail. *k2, do not turn; slide sts back to right hand side of needle, rep from * until I-cord is approx 1 3/4" long. BO all sts, leaving an 8" tail.

I’m just unsure about the part about not turning and sliding the sts. Any help would be appreciated!

How about a video to show you?
How to knit an i-cord
Just start with the number of sts your patterns calls for.

Thanks so much GG!

You’re welcome. It took me forever to even figure out what an I-cord is. Now I love 'em. If you need to do one on circular needles, you can slip the stitches from one needle to the other instead of sliding them to the end. I found that very helpful as I don’t have an assortment of all sizes of dpn. Happy :knitting: !

Yep I definitely had no idea what an icord was which probably just added to my confusion!

Isn’t it odd how things are so much clearer and simpler when we know what we’re actually working to create? I’d love to see your blanket if you want to post a photo. Please???

Ok I’ll try to post a photo when I’m finished for you. It’s not perfect but its my first knitting project and I’m sort of addicted.

And yes, I don’t know where I would be without YouTube. How did people learn to knit before the internet?!

I’m sure your blanket will be lovely. If we want perfect, then I think we need knitting machines. The more you knit, the better you’ll be at it. I look back now and can see that the hardest part was getting to the point where I could actually make something.

Before the internet, you either had to know someone who could teach you, go to a class, or be able to figure it out from a book and pictures. I knew how to make knits and purls but until I found KH, I didn’t really know how to knit. Now I’m finally learning.
