Help please - first baby sweater and I am stuck on pattern

Hi,
I am working on my first ever baby raglan sweater in stocking stitch. I have done most of the back and I have got to the bit where it says shape raglan.
The instructions read:
Work 24 rows dec 1 st at each end of next and every foll alt row

I read this as decreasing one stitch on every right side (knitted) -however if I do this the cast off would be a slant towards one direction - rather than going into a triangle shape as I was expecting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated please

Welcome!
You want to decrease at the beginning of the row and at the end of the row. There should be 2 decrease for every decrease row. That’ll give you the triangle shape that you are correctly expecting.

I just knitted my very first baby sweater and got so confused so many times! The help on this forum was amazing. You might find some of the help on my threads helpful.

Good luck!
