Help! Pattern question

If instructions call for me to slip the first stitch of the row throughout a pattern, when I am beginning a 2x2 rib row, do I slip the first stitch and then k2, p2 or do I count the slipped stitch as a k and then k1, p2???

Slip the first stitch and then do the k2, p2 ribbing.
