Help on Mason Dixon Knitting Pattern

I’m waiting to get the Mason Dixon knitting book, so friend emailed me the pattern for the baby kimono. I’m stuck though and have no idea what I did wrong.

I’ve attached a pic. I’m right at the
section of the pattern that says:

Continue until the left front is 40 sts, and until, when the sleeve is folded in half, the kimono front is the same length as the back. BO all stitches.

if I just keep working even, I’ll just end up with a giant sleeve? Do I bind off the sleeve stitches?
:teehee:

You’ll bind off the sleeve sts when the front half of the sleeve is the same length as the back half.

yeah but…
wouldn’t that make the sleeve huge?
then one side of the sleeve would be as long as the back of the kimono?

I wasn’t clear; knit the front half of the sleeve as long as the back half of the sleeve.

ok, so once that is done, bind off just the sleeve stitches and work the rest even with the back?

I’m thinking my pal left off a line of this pattern because I was working with it today and scratching my head.

Sorry if I came across as stupid… :woohoo:

edit

Also, the back of the sleeve has decreases, but the front doesn’t? Something is definitely messed up on this pattern

Yes.

As Ingrid says “trust the pattern”. Really. I have made two of them and there were no errors I found. A lot of times when you make these things that are done as one piece they look really weird, but as long as you follow the pattern it all works out in the end.

Here’s one that I made. The sleeves are fine.

ETA: I will add that it could be possible your friend goofed on sending the pattern so ask her about it. However, it maybe that it’s just confusing doing something new.
