Help on a Garter stitch loop-through scarf

Okay I’m working on a scarf and everything was going fine until I got to the part where I make the loop. Here’s what the pattern says.

“Holding two empty dpns in your right hand and the knitting in your left hand, slip one stitch at a time from project needle to dpns, alternating one stitch on one dpn and the next on the other dpn.” (I got that part fine) “Working each side of the loop separately, work K1, P1 rib for 2 inches”

So here’s my question, how do I work each side separately? Do I have to work one side for two inches and then cut the yarn and go back and work the other side, or is there an easier way?

I can’t picture this pattern…do you have a link to it?

Here’s the pic of it.

Ahh I see. I’d never heard of something knit the way you described so that’s pretty clever! I think that what you described is what it means.

I just looked it up on Ravelry to see what others had said about it. One woman mentions having to do one side of the loop, then cut the yarn and start the other side. Make sure you leave a a long enough tail so it won’t come undone while you’re working the other side. Then continue as per the pattern.

Thank you so much!
