I am very new to knitting and just started a scarf in a fan and feather stitch pattern. I started off with 58 stitches. After a row of k2, k2 together 3 times, k1 yo 6 times, k2 together 3 times and repeat until the end of the row, then k2… I now have 68 stitches on my needle. Should that have happened? I don’t want to keep going if I’ve done something wrong! Thanks!
Sometimes the problem with feather and fan is that you forget the second set of decreases. So instead of
3 decreases, 6 increases, 3 dec, 3 dec, 6 inc…
you do
3 dec, 6 inc, 3 dec, 6 inc, 3 dec, 6 inc…
See if you can find something like this in your last row.
It may help to use markers as a reminder between repeats. These can be as simple as a loop of contrasting yarn.
