Help needed!

Hi everyone!
I’m a newbie knitter, just started learning last weekend.
I’m loving it but have hit a stumbling block… I have made some kind of mistake but can’t figure out what I’ve done (I’ve included a photo with this post). I’m making a scarf and it’s in garter stitch.
I’ve googled a few common mistakes but none of them look like what has happened to mine… Can anyone help me??? Any help is greatly appreciated.15723433236863139533329274164248|900x1200

Hello Sophie and welcome!
For some reason I am not able to open the picture. Could you try to upload it in another way?

Hi engblom!

OK, here it is again:

I think if you click the link you can choose to download the image…?

Thank you, please make also a picture from the other side! I want to verify what I think has happened.

Oh thank you! I hope this is clear enough for you to see:

The easiest way to fix this, I think, is to use a crochet hook. Drop the strange stitches and pull apart to create the situation in this video and then follow the video for each stitch:

Ahh so you think it’s a dropped stitch? I saw that as a common mistake but I didn’t think mine looked like that…

Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!

It is something else than a dropped stitch, but you can reduce the problem to a “dropped stitch” problem.

I wonder if maybe you’ve knitted into the purl “bar” below the stitch on your needle?
